Our Puppet Workshop Day is more than just a fun activity; it’s a unique way to engage children with hands-on learning, sparking imagination and creativity! Tailored primarily for Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2), our workshop is also adaptable for Years 3 and 4. For older students in Years 5 and 6, we offer a customized format that aligns with their abilities and interests. Here’s what to expect on a typical KS1 Puppet Workshop Day:

• A lively puppet show: We kick off the day with an engaging puppet show that has kids laughing, cheering, and fully immersed in the story.
• Behind the scenes of puppet theater: Children get a peek behind the scenes, learning how a puppet theater works and seeing the magic that brings puppets to life.
• Bringing a puppet to life: We guide children in using their own voices and body language to make their puppets move and "speak," giving them new ways to express themselves.
• Create your own puppet: Each child crafts their very own puppet to take home, giving them a keepsake of their experience and a fun tool for further play.

Optional Activities:

• Show Planning and Storyboarding: For classes looking to dive deeper, children can plan their own puppet shows, storyboard their ideas, and explore the basics of performance.
• Practical Performance: Our workshops encourage budding performers, providing children the opportunity to showcase their work and practice in front of their peers.

If you’re interested, we also offer a Marionette Day. This option includes making marionette puppets, though it requires more time for the creative process.

Topics and Cross-Curricular Learning

Our Puppet Workshop Day can link into various classroom themes, making it ideal for cross-curricular learning. We offer activities themed around Toys, Monsters, Traditional Tales, Castles, and more. Alternatively, we can replace puppet-making with mini puppet theatre creation, especially popular for exploring traditional tales.
